Jean-François Court, Chairman of the Advisory Board
Jean-François served in the tax policy department of the Ministry of Finance in France, for 13 years, as French International Tax Policy Counsel and Competent Authority, as well as UN tax expert. He then became Chief of Staff for the Minister of Culture and Communication. He left public service in 1989 for the finance and insurance sectors.
He has been a top executive in the GAN-CIC Bank-Insurance group from 1989 to 1999.He was first in the private equity investment side of the Group and, at that time, served on the Board of AFIC (Association Française des investisseurs en capital). He was deeply involved in the discussions with Mr Sarkozy, then Minister of Budget, which lead to the first main legislation on Private Equity in France.
He then served as Head of Bancassurance for the Group, Chairman of Socapi (Life insurance company of the group, in France’s top ten companies, which topped 15 Bn € in assets in 1998) and Serenis (non-life insurance). In 1999, after Gan’s and CIC’s privatization, he joined Arjil Bank in the Lagardère group and ACG. Today, as Chairman of the Advisory Committee of ACG, Jean-François brings to ACG 15 years of public service and tax expertise and over 20 years of investment and corporate finance experience.
Jean-François holds degrees in Literature and Economics from Dijon University as well as a master degree of law from Harvard University; he graduated from Institut d’études politiques de Paris and is an alumnus of ENA (Ecole Nationale d’Administration).
